In the past the girl hostel lay in a dilapidated building in a coconut state close by the weligama Telijjawila main road. It was a very attractive place surrounded by a pond with lilies.
In the period of the principal, Mr.H.L.Wimalasooriya, that is, in 1946 there were only 16 hostellers. The first matron was Mrs.Rathnayaka from Kalutara. Each year a group of six was admitted to the hostel. In 1956 there were about 50 students I this hostel.Mrs. Siriwardana Was the predecessor of Mrs.Rathnayaka and Mrs.Dias was her predecessor. In addition there were some teachers. Some of them were Mrs. Soma Kankanamge, Mrs. Gimige, Mrs.Gunawardana , Mrs. P.G.T.Chandrawathie and Mrs.Jayasekara.They actively participated in extracurricular activities.
In the leisure time the hostellers engaged in needle works, cooking, sports, singing and dancing. Moreover, they attended Sunday dharma school. At the beginning the hostellers received the stationeries and the clothing materials in free of charge. In certain period the boy hostellers got food from the girl hostel.
In 1955 the girl hostel was moved to the present building. There were almost all the infrastructure facilities such as electricity and pipe water.

The boy hostel was situated at the Telijawila junction in 1948.Each year the students who got through the grade 5 scholarship examinations were admitted to the hostel. Mr.A.W.O.De Silva was the first warden. He was a strict disciplinarian.

The hostel was in “wickramasingha”bungalow. The hostel was surrounded by a woody land and there were coconut, rubber, and cinnamon states stretching far away. At the beginning the hostellers got food in the girl hostel, in the course of time the food was prepared in the boy hostel. The first cook was Mr.Hinni Appuhamy.
